MISTERI TRAGEDI SITU GINTUNG

Bencana yg menimpa Situ Gintung memang bencana yg memilukan hati jutaan orang..Banyak korban berjatuhan dan dikuburkan scr massal..Bagaimana perasaan org2 yg kehilangan anggota keluarganya dan masih hrs memikirkan kemana mrk akan berteduh krn rumahnya telah rata dgn tanah?

Di balik tragedi Situ Gintung yang menewaskan puluhan orang, banyak cerita misteri yang mengiringi danau seluas 21 Ha tersebut. Seminggu sebelum tanggul jebol, ada informasi kalau sang penunggu, Nyi Mas Melati menampakkan diri dengan berpakaian serba putih di tengah Situ Gintung, Cirendeu, Ciputat.

Kejadian ini termasuk langka dan jarang terjadi terlebih setelah adanya ‘Pulau Bergeser’ di Situ Gintung tahun 1986. Saat itu, menurut Abah Nur, 76, tokoh masyarakat yang yang tinggal sejak tahun 1965, ada cerita munculnya ular besar yang berdiameter sebatang pohon kelapa.

“Setelah munculnya ular raksasa di tengah situ, tiba-tiba timbul gundukan tanah atau yang disebut sebagai pulau kecil di dalam Situ Gintung yang bergeser ke tengah-tengah setu. “Pulau itu terlihat saat air setu menyusut atau kering. Tapi kalau meluap tak terlihat sama sekali,” kata Abah Nur, Jumat (27/3).

Aroma mistik tersebut kembali muncul seminggu lalu, saat sejumlah warga yang sedang memancing sekitar Pk. 18:30 melihat munculnya sinar terang di tengah situ. Sinar itu menggambarkan wanita berparas cantik yang lebih dikenal warga sekitar sebagai Nyi Mas Melati, sang penunggu situ yang dibangun pada tahun 1933 oleh Belanda.

Menurut dia, sejak munculnya penunggu situ, membuat beberapa warga merasa khawatir akan adanya bencana alam. “Namun kami tak menyangka, ternyata bencana tersebut berupa ambrolnya situ yang minta tumbal nyawa,” ujarnya.

BUAYA PUTIH
Cerita mistik dari kawasan Situ Gintung tak hanya penunggu wanita cantik saja, namun warga yang hobi mancing sering melihat ada buaya putih kerap menampakkan diri di malam-malam tertentu.

“Banyak yang sudah melihat buaya putih itu. Mereka cerita kepada warga hingga berkembang sampai sekarang. Apalagi sebelum kawasan di sekitar situ belum banyak dibangun rumah mewah, sering kali dijumpai hal-hal berbau mistik,” kata Muhamad Piong alias Cing Muhamad, 72, juru kunci Situ Gintung.

Menurut Cing Muhamad, dirinya merupakan keturunan keempat dari juru kunci Situ Gintung. “Dahulu situ ini dipegang kakak kandung ibu saya yakni Ma Enong. Ma Enong ini merupakan juru kunci situ pertama yang diteruskan ke Obri, saudara saya. Terakhir saya dipercaya. Namun saat ini sudah tidak aktif lagi,” katanya.

HAWA SIO (DINGIN)
Keangkeran Situ Gintung, diakui H.Nun, 67, kerabat dari H.Koko, pengelola Restoran Situ Gintung. “Dahulu kala penunggu situ, titip kepada bapaknya, Soenhaji agar merawat danau dengan baik. Akhirnya danau itu dibangun restoran dan berbagai fasilitas sampai sekarang,” kata H.Nun.

Ia menambahkan, mungkin terjadi salah pengelolaan di sekitar Situ Gintung hingga membuat penunggunya marah. “Namun terlepas dari itu semua, saya tetap meyakini semua musibah datangnya dari Allah SWT sebagai ujian kepada hambanya,” tukasnya.

Warga setempat, Ny.Maria, 47, mengakui angkernya Situ Gintung karena hawanya sio (dingin). “Lokasinya memang indah dan enak dikunjungi sebagai tempat rekreasi. Namun, kalau di sana rasanya aneh dan hawanya dingin. Tanpa sebab apa-apa, bisa saja ada pengunjung atau warga yang meninggal. Seperti minta tumbal yang terjadi hampir setiap tahun.

KEAJABAN TUHAN

Namun, terdapat suatu keganjilan yg nyata..Di saat semua bangunan telah porak poranda dan banyak kendaraan yg rusak binasa, terdapat satu MASJID yg berdiri dgn kokohnya: MaSJID JABAHUL RAHMA..

Mengapa mesjid ini bisa bertahan setelah banyak bangunan yg lebih kokoh rontok?Apakah ini suatu peringatan dari Tuhan untuk tidak melakukan perbuatan maksiat??Spt diketahui khalayak ramai, Situ Gintung sering digunakan oleh muda-mudi untuk berbuat maksiat dan bahkan dijadikan lokasi prostitusi..Sebagai pembanding, pada sat Tsunami di Aceh bbrp thn silam, bbrp masjidpun masih berdiri kokoh..

Rasa rasanya kita tidak perlu berpikir dua kali bhw selain memang tanggul ini memang sudah memerlukan perawatan ekstara krn sudah tua, namun memang peringatan Tuhan pun sudah sangat nyata..Mungkin sudah terlalu banyak dosa2 yg dilakukan penduduk negara ini yg harus ditebus..Sudah waktunya untuk para politisi dan pemerintah untuk tidak memikirkan kekuasaan dan kekayaannya saja dan lebih memperhatikan nasib orang kecil..Salah satunya yg tinggal di sekitar Situ Gintung..

DRAGON BALL EVOLUTION

A young warrior (Justin Chatwin) must protect Earth from the Evil Lord Piccolo (James Marsters) by preventing seven mystical orbs from falling into Piccolo's hands.

Based on The King Piccolo Saga, Dragonball, also known as the Piccolo Daimaoh Saga (Demon Lord Piccolo Saga) is the penultimate saga from the anime Dragon Ball. It occurs after the Tien Shinhan Saga and precedes the Piccolo Junior Saga. It includes the battles between Goku and King Piccolo's sons, Goku's first encounter with the Samurai warrior, Yajirobe, Goku's quest to find the Holy Water, his final battle with young King Piccolo, and the birth of Piccolo Junior. Goku met with his oriental love interest, Chi Chi (Jamie Chung).

It's very pleasing to see the familiar face of Chow Yun Fat, who takes the role of Master Roshi in the movie. He hasn't lost his fatherly, wiseman charm and in fact, I would say his performance saves the movie.

The flick receives mostly negative reviews from fans, who expect a mega-spectacular version of the anime series but leave home disappointed by the rather-poorly directed movie. Dragaon Ball Evolution is directed by Asian Director James Wong. Perhaps the producers think that a huge Asian cult like Dragon Ball should be directed by an Asian director. Apparently, they are wrong. The movie fails to give that extra special touch that will make the viewers amazed like Steven Spielberg movies do..What would happen if Mr. Spielberg directed this amazing Asian saga??

The lead actor, Justin Chatwin has little charm and bears little resemblance to the original anime character. The outfits suck and the martial art is another leddown.

SPECTACULAR IN ASIA??

Dragonball Evolution opened to $10.1 million dollars in Asia this weekend, premiering at No.1 in China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore.

At No. 4, Fox’s “Dragonball Evolution” premiered in eight Asian markets before its April 8 domestic opening. Director James Wong’s live-action adaptation of the famous Japanese cartoon series created by Akira Toriyama co-stars Justin Chatwin and Chow Yun-fat and drew $10.1 million from 2,110 screens.

Following heavy prerelease promotion in the region, it premiered at No. 1 in China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore. The China opening tally, $3.4 million from 855 locales, was Fox’s fourth-highest weekend opening in the market. “Dragonball’s” No. 2 Japan bow produced $3.3 million from 540 screens.

I just saw PUSH the movie this afternoon with a friend of mine..It's a sci-fi thriller starring Chris Evans(Of the Fantastic Four fame), Dakota Fanning and Camilla Belle set in Hong Kong..

A group of young American ex-pats with telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities are hiding from a clandestine U.S. government agency. They must utilize their different talents and band together for a final job enabling them to escape the agency forever.

In 1945, Hitler and his Nazis were using experiments on people who were born with special abilities to create an ultra-powerful army. However, the war end put a stop to this. What it didn't stop was other countries finding out and setting up their own branches, or divisions. Watchers, for example, are able to see the future in quick flashes and scenes. Movers can move objects and people with their minds. Pushers, on the other hand, can "push" people into believing that certain things are or aren't true (like hypnosis). Bleeders emit high-pitched sonic screams that make ears bleed, while Stitches can disassemble or reassemble any scar tissue. Sniffs can take any object and get a history of where it's been in relation to its owner, while Wipers can erase any amount of a persons memory. There are also Shifters; people who make objects appear to be something else (like illusionists, only more realistic), and Shadows, people whose ability is basically to block the effectiveness of other clairvoyants (the Sniffers, mainly).

Nick Gant(Chris Evans)is just a regular "LOSER" who has a little bit of movers abilty.He was just a regular street-gambler before he met Cassie (Dakota Fanning), a second-generation watcher.The little girl tells him about a case they need to find that could bring the "DIVISION" down and net them about six million dollars. In the course of the project, they met with Nick's old flame, Kira (Camilla Belle), who apparently was the victim of the Division's experiment, but successfully made an escape and therefore become their fugitive.

The movie has its ups n downs, sometimes dragging, but it has its "adrenaline" moments..Dakota fanning gave a very good performance in the movie while Chris Evans provided his good looks..

For those of you who want some light entertainment, you won't lose much if you see the movie..It's pretty entertaining alhought it's not an A class action movie..

THE JONAS BROTHERS NEW ALBUM 2009

The Jonas Brothers announced On March 11, 2009, that their fourth studio album, Lines, Vines, and Trying Times, will be released on June 15, 2009.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Jonas Brothers announced that Lines, Vines and Trying Times is the tentative title for the Jonas Brothers fourth studio album. Nick said in the interview that, "Lines are something that someone feeds you, vines are the things that get in the way, and trying times, well, that's obvious." The brothers tell fans to expect more ultra-catchy pop like the new song "Poison Ivy", a Weezer-ish tune about a toxic girl you can't resist. Nick Jonas told Billboard: 'We're trying to learn as much as we can, continuing to grow." Kevin added: "The overall message is its the same old Jonas Brothers, in a sense, but we're adding more and more music, including different musical instruments that are going to add and build to the sound we already have." Nick also said the songs on the album are "our journal in songs, about all things we've gone through, personal experiences we get inspiration from. We've also been working on trying to use metaphors.. to kind of mask a literal thing that happens to us."

The band also announced on March 11 2009 that they will be embarking on a world tour in mid-2009.

The Jonas Brothers are an American pop-rock band. The band gained their popularity from the Disney Channel children's television network. Hailing from Wyckoff, New Jersey, the band consists of three brothers: Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas. In the summer of 2008, they starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock. They have released three albums: It's About Time (2006), Jonas Brothers (2007), and A Little Bit Longer (2008). The band's fourth studio album will be released June 15, 2009; tentatively titled Lines, Vines and Trying Times In 2008, the group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 51st Grammy Awards and won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta[8] (born 20 March 1986), best known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She was born in Yonkers, New York and grew up in Manhattan, where she attended private school at Convent of the Sacred Heart and later studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. At age 20, she began working for Interscope Records as a songwriter, penning songs for pop acts such as the Pussycat Dolls. She has been influenced by glam rockers such as David Bowie and Queen as well as '80s pop singers such as Madonna and Michael Jackson.

After singer-songwriter and record producer Akon recognised that Gaga also had vocal talent, he signed her to a joint deal with his own label, Kon Live Distribution, and then started to work on her own new material for her debut album. In 2008, Gaga released The Fame, which she explained was "about how anyone can feel famous". To date, the album spawned the hit singles "Just Dance" (nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 51st Grammy Awards) and "Poker Face".

Gaga got her stage name when the music producer Rob Fusari compared her vocal style to that of Freddie Mercury and took the name 'Gaga' from the Queen song, "Radio Ga-Ga". It was Fusari that helped her to write some of her early hits, including "Disco Heaven", "Dirty Ice Cream" and "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich.

On 3 December 2008, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced the nominees of the 51st Grammy Awards, which took place on 8 February 2009 and was held in the Staples Center. Gaga's "Just Dance" received a nomination for the Best Dance Recording, but lost to Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.

Gaga is a natural brunette, though her hair has not been in its natural color since 2008. According to Times Online, her hair is dyed because as a brunette, she kept being mistaken for fellow singer-songwriter Amy WinehouseGaga states that she is "very in to fashion" and that it is "everything". Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is an upcoming 2009 fantasy-adventure film, based on the novel by J. K. Rowling. It is the sixth film in the popular Harry Potter films series. It is directed by David Yates, the director of the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. David Heyman and David Barron are producing the film, and Steve Kloves, writer of the first four films (but not the fifth), has returned as screenwriter for this film. Filming began on 24 September 2007, and the film was originally planned for a UK and U.S. release on 21 November 2008, but on 14 August 2008, it was announced that the release date for the film was to be pushed back to 17 July 2009. Like the previous film, the sixth film will be simultaneously released in regular cinemas and IMAX 3-D.

PLOT

Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself increasingly drawn to Ginny, and so is Dean Thomas. Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hasn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates. Then there’s Hermione, simmering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

Before David Yates was officially chosen to direct the film, many others had been offered the job, and previous directors had expressed an interest in returning. Alfonso Cuarón, the director of the third film, stated he "would love to have the opportunity" to return. Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell declined a spot to direct the fifth film, and was not approached for this one.[11] Terry Gilliam was Rowling's personal choice to direct Philosopher's Stone. However, when asked whether he would consider directing a later film, Gilliam said, "Warner Bros. had their chance the first time around, and they blew it."

From the fifth film, Yates has retained composer Nicholas Hooper, who, judging by the background music on the Official Harry Potter website, has included a reworking of John Williams's Hedwig's Theme, which has reoccurred in all scores including Patrick Doyle's. Also maintained are costume designer Jany Temime, visual effects supervisor Tim Burke, creature and make-up effects designer Nick Dudman, and special effects supervisor John Richardson from the third film. Since February 2007, Stuart Craig, the production designer of the first five films as well, has been designing sets, including the cave, and the astronomy tower, where the climax of the film takes place. Academy Award nominated Bruno Delbonnel is the film's cinematographer.

Yates and Heyman have noted that some of the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows may influence the script of the film. Steve Kloves, who wrote the first four films, returned for the sixth adaptation.

Following a week of rehearsals, principal photography began on 24 September 2007 and ended on 17 May 2008. Before filming commenced, there was belief that filming may move from the UK, where all of the previous five films have been shot. This is North Scotland reported filming will take place in New Zealand, due to the "more agreeable economy and climate" and lack of Scottish funding. The Sunday Business Post in Ireland noted that the film's producers and WB executives had been scouting there, specifically Leinster and Munster because they "believe they have now exhausted possible locations in Britain." They are "particularly keen on Ireland, as the landscape is similar to Britain and will appear similar to the settings of the previous films." The crew also scouted around Cape Wrath in Scotland, for use in the cave scene. Filming returned to Glen Coe and Glenfinnan, both which have appeared in the previous films, to preserve the continuity of the landscape.

On the weekend of 6 October 2007, the crew shot scenes involving the Hogwarts Express in the misty and dewy environment of Fort William, Scotland.] A series of night scenes were filmed in the village of Lacock and the cloisters at Lacock Abbey for three nights starting 25 October 2007. Filming took place from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, and residents of the street were asked to black out their windows with dark blinds. On set reports indicated that the main scene filmed was Harry and Dumbledore's visit to Slughorn's house. Further filming took place in Surbiton railway station in October 2007, Gloucester Cathedral, where the first and second films were shot, in February 2008,[24] and at the Millennium Bridge in London in March 2008.

Though Radcliffe, Gambon, and Broadbent started shooting in late September 2007, some other cast members started much later: Grint did not begin until November 2007, Watson did not begin until December 2007, Rickman until January 2008, and Bonham Carter until February 2008.

I saw Confessions of a shopaholic and I had quite a marvellous time smiling and laughing my way throughout the movie..It's funny, sometimes sentimental, full of beautiful shots, branded clothes and it has a light story line..

Confessions of a Shopaholic has received generally negative reviews. As of March 6, 2009 the film holds an average score of 38, based on 30 reviews on the Web Site Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics. On Rotten Tomatoes the film holds a rating of 23%, based on 113 reviews with a consensus "This middling romantic comedy underutilizes a talented cast and delivers muddled messages on materialism and conspicuous consumption."

Todd McCarthy of Variety said, "this adaptation of the first two of Sophie Kinsella's massively popular novels strains far too hard for comedy that seldom erupts with full force and inevitably betrays a free-spending mindset that now feels gone with the wind". Her complimented Fisher's performance, saying that "her irrepressible comic personality overcomes a number of the film's impediments".

Regardless of what these critics said, I had a good time watching it!!All the casts are superb and gave a splendid performance..Romance is there, excellent shots and some hillarious scenes (See the trailer where Rebecca dances with his boss using a fan!!)

LION AIR GROUNDED AFTER ACCIDENT IN JAKARTA

Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation has grounded all MD-90 aircraft operated by Lion Air, following the carrier's most recent accident. Lion Air had a fleet of five MD-90s, however two already are out of service due to damage incurred in recent accidents.

On the afternoon of March 9, 2009, Lion Air Flight JT-793, reportedly skidded off a runway at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta airport as it was arriving from Makassar, South Sulawesi, in heavy rains. It came to a rest in the grass beside the runway, with damage to its landing gear and cracks in a wing. No injuries were reported among the six crew members and 168 passengers on board.

Another Lion Air MD-90 landing accident occurred on February 24, 2009 at Batam’s Hang Nadim Airport after that aircraft's nose gear failed to deploy. There were no casualties.

Apparently there has been some concern in Indonesia about the age of Lion Air's MD-90s, which have been in service since 1989. However, at least one Indonesian official seems to have a clearer perspective on the problem. The Jakarta Globe reports that Herry Bhakti Singayuda, the new director general of civil aviation for Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation, said that the physical condition of the MD-90s and Lion Air’s maintenance procedures for all of its aircraft would be investigated.

“It’s not a matter of old planes and new ones,” he said. “It is a matter of airworthiness.”

The Jakarta Globe also quoted Emirsyah Satar, chairman of the Indonesia National Air Carriers Association, who blamed the recent string of commercial aircraft accidents in Indonesia on aviation regulators who are not strict enough.

“We have always pushed for safety compliance within our association, including Lion Air,” Satar said. “Safety and compliance is the top priority and we will not compromise on that.”

GERMAN TEEN SHOT HIMSELF AFTER KILLING 15

WINNENDEN, Germany — A 17-year-old gunman dressed in black opened fire at his former high school in southwestern Germany on Wednesday, killing 13 people there and two elsewhere, before police shot him to death, state officials said.

The teenager killed nine students, three teachers, and a passer-by outside Albertville high school in Winnenden, authorities said. A student wounded in the shooting died in hospital later Tuesday.

Triggering a land and air manhunt, he hijacked a car, let the passengers go and drove about 40 kilometres before police found him. When confronted, he killed two bystanders in a shootout with police before he was slain, Baden Wuerttemburg Gov. Guenther Oettinger said. Two officers were seriously injured, but there was no immediate information on other casualties.

Police have identified the gunman only as Tim K, who graduated last year from the school of about 1,000 students.

No motive has been identified. The victims were primarily female. Of the students killed, eight were girls and one was a boy.

All three teachers were women. The victims at the auto dealership were men, as was the passer-by who was shot near the school.

In their hunt for the gunman, police searched his parents' home in a nearby town. The suspect's father, who is a member of a local gun club, had 16 firearms, one of which was missing, police said.

Police identified the weapon used in the attack as a high-caliber pistol.

It was the country’s worst shooting since another teenage gunman killed 16 people and himself in another high school in 2002.

“He went into the school with a weapon and carried out a bloodbath,” said police Chief Erwin Hetger. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.”

The gunman entered the school in the town 20 kilometres northeast of Stuttgart and opened fire, shooting at random, police said.

Witnesses said students jumped from the windows of the school building. Concerned parents quickly swarmed around the school, which was evacuated.

It was about four hours later that authorities said the gunman had been killed, but it was not immediately clear at what time police shot him.

The German government was “deeply shocked and incensed about the appalling killing spree,” Ulrich Wilhelm, a spokesman for Chancellor Angela Merkel, said in Berlin.

In 2002, 19-year-old Robert Steinhaeuser shot and killed 12 teachers, a secretary, two students and a police officer before turning his gun on himself in the Gutenberg high school in Erfurt, in eastern Germany.


Steinhaeuser, who had been expelled for forging a doctor’s note, was a gun club member licensed to own weapons. The attack led Germany to raise the age for owning recreational firearms from 18 to 21.

THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE MISTERY

The great airplane tragedies that happen lately in Indonesia reminds me of missing airplanes that happened in the past..Some planes/ships were lost in the region known as the "Bermuda Triangle"..

The Bermuda Triangle (sometimes also referred to as the Devil's Triangle) is a stretch of the Atlantic Ocean bordered by a line from Florida to the islands of Bermuda, to Puerto Rico and then back to Florida. It is one of the biggest mysteries of our time - that perhaps isn't really a mystery.

The Bermuda Triangle is a strange and mysterious place in the southern Atlantic Ocean. It is roughly the shape of a triangle and it is said to have sucked planes and boats into its dark and murky waters. No one knows what happened to the planes and boats. When some enter the waters of the triangle they disappear forever.


Why do ships and planes seem to go missing in the region? Some authors suggested it may be due to a strange magnetic anomaly that affects compass readings (in fact they claim Columbus noted this when he sailed through the area in 1492). Others theorize that methane eruptions from the ocean floor may suddenly be turning the sea into a froth that can't support a ship's weight so it sinks (though there is no evidence of this type of thing happening in the Triangle for the past 15,000 years). Several books have gone as far as conjecturing that the disappearances are due to an intelligent, technologically advanced race living in space or under the sea.

Kusche's Theory

In 1975 Larry Kusche, a librarian at Arizona State University, reached a totally different conclusion. Kusche decided to investigate the claims made by these articles and books. What he found he published in his own book entitled The Bermuda Triangle Mystery-Solved. Kusche had carefully dug into records other writers had neglected. He found that many of the strange accidents were not so strange after all. Often a Triangle writer had noted a ship or plane had disappeared in "calms seas" when the record showed a raging storm had been in progress. Others said ships had "mysteriously vanished" when their remains had actually been found and the cause of their sinking explained. In one case a ship listed missing in the Triangle actually had disappeared in the Pacific Ocean some 3,000 miles away! The author had confused the name of the Pacific port the ship had left with a city of the same name on the Atlantic coast.



More significantly, a check of Lloyd's of London's accident records by the editor of Fate in 1975 showed that the Triangle was no more dangerous than any other part of the ocean. U.S. Coast Guard records confirmed this and since that time no good arguments have ever been made to refute those statistics. So many argue that the Bermuda Triangle mystery has disappeared, in the same way many of its supposed victims vanished.

Even though the Bermuda Triangle isn't a true mystery, this region of the sea certainly has had its share of marine tragedy. This region is one of the heaviest traveled areas of ocean in the world. Both small boats and commercial ships ply its waters along with airliners, military aircraft and private planes as they come to and from both the islands and more distant ports in Europe, South America and Africa. The weather in this region can make traveling hazardous also. The summer brings hurricanes while the warm waters of the Gulf Stream promote sudden storms. With this much activity in a relatively small region it isn't surprising that a large number of accidents occur. Some of the ones commonly connected to the Triangle story are:

The USS Cyclops Sinking

One of the first stories connected to the Triangle legend and the most famous ship lost in the region was the USS Cyclops which disappeared in 1918. The 542 foot long Cyclops was launched in 1910 and served as a collier ( a ship that carries coal) for the U.S. Navy during World War I. The vessel was on its way from Bahia, Salvador, to Baltimore, Maryland, but never arrived. After it had made an unscheduled stop at Barbados on March 3rd and 4th to take on additional supplies, it disappeared without a trace. No wreckage from the ship was ever found and no distress signal was received. The deaths of the 306 crew and passengers of the USS Cyclops remains the single largest loss of life in U.S. Naval history not directly involving combat.

While the sinking of the Cyclops remains a mystery, the incident could have happened anywhere between Barbados and Baltimore, not necessarily in the Bermuda Triangle. Proponents of the Bermuda Triangle theory point to the lack of a distress call as evidence of a paranormal end for the vessel, but the truth is that wireless communications in 1918 were unreliable and it would not have been unusual for a rapidly-sinking vessel to not have had a chance to send a successful distress call before going under.

SS Marine Sulphur Queen Vanishes

The SS Marine Sulphur Queen, a tanker ship carrying molten sulphur, disappeared off the southern coast of Florida in 1963. The crew of 39 was all lost and no wreckage from the tanker was ever found. While the disappearance of the ship is mentioned in several books about the Triangle, authors don't always include that the Coast Guard concluded that the vessel was in deplorable shape and should have never gone to sea at all. Fires erupted with regularity on the ship. Also, this class of vessel was known to have a "weak back", which means the keel would split when weakened by corrosion causing the ship to break in two. The ship's structure had been further compromised by a conversion from its original mission as an oil tanker to carrying molten sulphur. The conversion had left the vessel with an extremely high center of gravity, increasing the chance that it would capsize. The SS Marine Sulphur Queen was all-in-all a disaster waiting to happen and it seems unfair to blame its demise on the Bermuda Triangle.

The Disappearance of NC16002

NC16002 was a DC-3 passenger plane that vanished on the night of December 28, 1948, during a flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Miami, Florida. The weather was fine with high visibility and the flight was, according to the pilot, within 50 miles of Miami when it disappeared with its three crew members and twenty-nine passengers. Though no probable cause for the loss was determined by the official investigation, it is known that the plane's batteries were not fully charged on takeoff and this may have interfered with communications during the flight. A message from Miami to the plane that the direction of the wind had changed may have not been received by the pilot, causing him to fly up to fifty miles off course.

The Fate of Flight 19

The tale of Flight 19 started on December 5th, 1945. Five Avenger torpedo bombers lifted into the air from the Naval Air Station at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at 2:10 in the afternoon. It was a routine practice mission and the flight was composed of all students except for the Commander, a Lt. Charles Taylor.

The mission called for Taylor and his group of 13 men to fly due east 56 miles to Hens and Chicken Shoals to conduct practice bombing runs. When they had completed that objective, the flight plan called for them to fly an additional 67 miles east, and then turn north for 73 miles and finally straight back to base, a distance of 120 miles. This course would take them on a triangular path over the sea.

About an hour and a half after the flight had left, Lt. Robert Cox at the base picked up a radio transmission from Taylor. Taylor indicated that his compasses were not working, but he believed himself to be somewhere over the Florida Keys (the Keys are a long chain of islands south of the Florida mainland). Cox urged him to fly north toward Miami; if Taylor was sure the flight was over the Keys.

Planes today have a number of ways that they can check their current position including listening to a set of GPS (Global Positioning Satellites) in orbit around the earth. It is almost impossible for a pilot to get lost if he has the right equipment and uses it properly. In 1945, though, planes flying over water had to depend on knowing their starting point, how long and fast they had flown, and in what direction. If a pilot made a mistake with any of these figures, he was lost. Over the ocean there were no landmarks to set him right.

Navigational Confusion

Apparently Taylor had become confused at some point in the flight. He was an experienced pilot, but hadn't spent a lot of time flying east toward the Bahamas which was where he was going on that day. For some reason Taylor apparently thought the flight had started out in the wrong direction and had headed south toward the Keys, instead of east. This thought was to color his decisions throughout the rest of the flight with deadly results.

The more Taylor took his flight north to try to get out of the Keys, the further out to sea the Avengers actually traveled. As time went on, snatches of transmissions were picked up on the mainland indicating the other Flight 19 pilots were trying to get Taylor to change course. "If we would just fly west," one student told another, "we would get home." He was right


By 4:45 P.M. it was obvious to the people on the ground that Taylor was hopelessly lost. He was urged to turn control of the flight over to one of his students, but apparently he didn't. As it grew dark, communications deteriorated. From the few words that did get through it was apparent Taylor was still flying north and east, the wrong direction.

At 5:50 P.M. the ComGulf Sea Frontier Evaluation Center managed get a fix on Flight 19's weakening signals. It was apparently east of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. By then communications were so poor that this information could not be passed to the lost planes.

At 6:20 a Dumbo flying boat was dispatched to try and find Flight 19 and guide it back. Within the hour two more planes, Martin Mariners, joined the search. Hope was rapidly fading for Flight 19 by then. The weather was getting rough and the Avengers were very low on fuel.

Two Martin Mariners were supposed to rendezvous at the search zone. The second one, designated Training 49, never showed up, joining the 5 Avengers as "missing."

The last transmission from Flight 19 was heard at 7:04 P.M. Planes searched the area through the night and the next day. There was no sign of the Avengers.

Nor did the authorities really expect to find much. The Avengers, crashing when their fuel was exhausted, would have been sent to the bottom in seconds by the 50 foot waves of the storm. As one of Taylor's colleagues noted, "...they didn't call those planes 'Iron Birds' for nothing. They weighed 14,000 pounds empty. So when they ditched, they went down pretty fast."



What happened to the missing Martin Mariner? Well, the crew of the SS Gaines Mill observed an explosion over the water shortly after the Mariner had taken off. They headed toward the site and there they saw what looked like oil and airplane debris floating on the surface. None of it was recovered because of the bad weather, but there seems little doubt this was the remains of the Mariner. The plane had a reputation as being a "flying bomb" which would burst into flame from even a single, small spark. Speculation is that one of 22 men on board, unaware that the unpressurized cabin contained gas fumes, lit a cigarette, causing the explosion.

Missing Avengers become the Triangle's "Lost Squadron"

So how did this tragedy turn into a Bermuda Triangle mystery? The Navy's original investigation concluded the accident had been caused by Taylor's navigational confusion. According to those that knew him he was a good pilot, but often navigated "flying by the seat of his pants" and had gotten lost in the past. Taylor's mother refused to accept that and finally got the Navy to change the report to read that the disaster was for "causes or reasons unknown." This may have spared the woman's feelings, but blurred the actual facts.

The saga of Flight 19 is probably the most repeated story about the Bermuda Triangle. Vincent Gaddis put the tale into the same Argosy magazine article where he coined the term "Bermuda Triangle" in 1964 and thetwo have been connected ever since. The planes and their pilots even found their way into the science fiction film classic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Where is Flight 19 now? Well, in 1991 five Avengers were found in 750 feet of water off the coast of Florida by the salvage ship Deep Sea. Examination of the plane's ID numbers, however, showed that they were not from Flight 19 (as many as 139 Avengers were thought to have gone into the water off the coast of Florida during the war). It seems the final resting place of the lost squadron and their crews is still a real Bermuda Triangle mystery.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The two-seat Taiwanese fighter jet disappeared last week during a routine training mission over the Taiwan Strait. Debris and body parts were found the next day, but authorities are at a loss to explain what happened.

The Oct. 20 crash revived decades-old speculation: Are Taiwan's Penghu islands the Bermuda Triangle of Asia?

"The Bermuda terror," boomed a headline in the United Evening News, a Taiwanese newspaper. "Three hundred dead or missing in 40 years over here."

Cable news stations aired grisly images of earlier plane crashes in the area, sparking debate in Internet chat rooms.type:bold,italic;

The reports prompted Penghu officials to issue a statement disputing the Bermuda Triangle comparison, which they fear might scare away investors in a casino resort and other projects.

Most experts dismiss the idea and speculation that an irregular magnetic field disrupts navigation instruments. Scientists have found nothing abnormal in the area, says geologist Chen Wen-shan at National Taiwan University.

The pristine waters around the Penghu islands, a popular beach destination 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of the Taiwanese mainland, have seen their share of crashes.

Government records show at least three commercial planes, one civilian helicopter and five fighter jets have crashed in the area in the past two decades.

Earlier, several spy planes reportedly went down or missing while flying missions to mainland China during the Cold War in the 1960s and 1970s. The military refuses to confirm the reports, saying most of the documents remain classified.

The deadliest accident came in May 2002, when a China Airlines flight to Hong Kong broke into four parts over seas north of Penghu, killing all 225 aboard. Seven months later, a cargo plane crashed in the same area.

The back-to-back crashes bolstered the Bermuda Triangle speculation so much, that tourists all but shunned Penghu in the following months.

So far, the recent fighter jet crash has not rekindled as many jitterstype; among the public, much to the relief of local officials.

Penghu County Chief Wang Chien-fa blames the crashes on the high volume of air traffic, saying most of the mishaps have been shown to be the result of either human or mechanical failure.

"With so many aircraft flying over our air space everyday, the chances of crashes are proportionally higher, and that's all," he said in a telephone interview.

Yuan Hsiao-feng, an aviation expert at National Chengkung University, points to the high risks of military training flights.

Ending a summer season that drew thousands of swimmers to its beaches, the island chain of 90,000 people is now getting ready to welcome windsurfers.

Tourism officials also hope that Penghu will benefit from a recent relaxing of travel restrictions for mainland Chinese who want to visit Taiwan.

The islands, first settled by shipwrecked Chinese sailors 700 years ago, have an undersea ancient wall and other ruins. They also are an attraction because they were once at the forefront of the bitter Taiwan-China military standoff, said tourism official Hong Tung-lin.

The Chinese have long seen the islands as mysterious, because of their inaccessibility and a past history of shipwrecks, he said.

South of Penghu, an area called the "Ditch of Black Waters" is a graveyard for numerous boats, said to have capsized in swirling seas during the height of Chinese immigration to Taiwan two to three centuries ago.

Japanese pilots and sailors are said to have tried to avoid the rough seas off Penghu, known to them as the "devil's sea" during Japan's 50-year rule of Taiwan that ended in 1945.

Today, trawlers and cargo ships sail through the region safely.

"The mystic perception is fine but we hope people will not associate this area with danger," Hong said.

Sekumpulan pria berada di ruang ganti di salah satu tempat gym terkemuka dan eksklusif di pusat kota. Tiba2 terdengar deringan hp di penjuru ruangan itu. Salah satu dari pria itu menjawab panggilan tersebut dan terjadilah obrolan berikut:

"Abang, ini ayang."
"Eemmmmm.... "
"Abang masih di tempat gym ya?"
"Iya..."
"Ayang sekarang lagi ada di mall dekat tempat gym abang. Ayang liat Louis Vuitton punya koleksi tas baru. Harganya murah kok, cuma 7 juta aja... Boleh beli nggak, Bang?"
"O.K, beli aja kalau kamu memang suka."

"Ahhhhh....thanks abang, dan tadi sebelon ayang ke sini, ayang ke pameran mobil dan liat mobil Mercedes terbaru. Ayang suka banget dengan modelnya, dan ayang juga sudah ngobrol dengan penjualnya, dia setuju mau kasi 'good price'. Lagian kan bagus juga kalo mobil BMW yg kita beli tahun lalu itu ditukar dengan yang baru."

MY SIMPATI COMMERCIAL

At last, my "SIMPATI" commercial aired since yesterday on all major TV stations: Trans TV, RCTI, SCTV, Indosiar and TV7!!

The storyboard is simpler than the original version..This middle-aged man is playing golf along with his son (ME) and his two other mates. He claims to be a super-golfer and used to play golf with Barrack Obama.However his friends don't believe it and always make fun of him and his golfing skill.

He putt several times, but each time he failed and he had to make lots of silly excuses (Like bad grass condition etc) and when he tried to make an IDD call to Obama, the connection failed, too..

So, the son(My role in the TVC)steps in, exchanges his old phone with a new one using a different provider (Simpati) and it works real well this time..He can speak to Obama clearly and his mates just watch him in awe..

AFGHAN MENDADAK GENDUT??

Penyanyi solo paling in saat ini Afgan Syah Reza kaget dengan berat tubuhnya yang tiba-tiba membengkak. Terdapat kenaikan sekitar 15 Kg, yang membuat penyanyi berkaca-mata itu panik berat, hingga harus menyiapkan langkah khusus. Ia juga membantah tubuh bengkaknya itu lantaran 'tekanan' demi sebuah peran dalam film perdana yang akan segera diproduksi.

"Ini ngembang begitu saja, bukan karena tuntutan akting. Emang berat badan gue yang naik. Ini sedang proses mengembalikan di posisi semula. Dulu berat badan gue sekelingking (sambil menunjukkan kelingking, red), sekarang udah nggak karuan. Dan power-nya kalau lagi nyanyi berkurang karena kegemukan," tuturnya panjang.

Btw, Afgan ternyata sdg dlm proses pembuatan video klip barunya yg berjudul "Bukan Cinta Biasa". "Gue berasa beda banget karena naiknya signifikan banget sampai 15 Kg, tadinya 55 sekarang 70," tegasnya.

Namun ia mengaku ini belum sampai mempengaruhi rasa percaya dirinya dan kelebihan berat tubuhnya segera disadari. Apalagi kini, dirinya sudah mengambil langkah untuk penurunan kembali. Diperhitungkan pada rilis album berikutnya, tubuhnya akan pada kondisi semula.

"Ya, gue tetep PD (percaya diri, red) nggak minder karena berat badan gue, sekarang lagi tahap penurunan dan gue lagi diet. Tadinya mau diet untuk video klip ini, tapi nggak keburu. Tapi nanti pas album kedua gue siap, berat badan gue pinginnya sudah kembali seperti semula," tegas Afgan yang mengaku tidak akan melakukan sedot lemak itu.

JAVA JAZZ 2009!!

Sejumlah musisi dan penyanyi jazz dunia hadir dalam Java Jazz Festival 2009 di Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta Selatan mulai Jumat (6/3) malam. Bagi penggemar musik jazz, tiga hari ini adalah waktu untuk memanjakan telinga dengan kehadiran musisi dari dalam dan luar negeri.

Yup, Java Jazz hadir lagi di Jkt!!Kali ini disponsori oleh provider selular AXIS dan berlangsung dari tgl 6-9 Maret 2009.

Tidak kurang dari 19 panggung dipenuhi oleh sekitar 1.600 musisi dalam dan luar negeri yang mengisi 210 pertunjukan.

Mereka yang tampil antara lain Jason Mraz, Dianne Reeves, Brian Mcnight, dan Matt Bianco. Sedangkan dari dalam negeri akan tampil antara lain Glen Fredly, Afghan, grup musik RAN, serta Elfas Singers. Bahkan tiket untuk penampilan Jason Mraz sudah habis terjual.

Guys, the track list for Justin Timberlake’s new untitled album has been leaked onto the Internet, and it sounds HOT!!!!!!!!!!! Things can still change, but according to an anonymous source, Justin signed off on this two days ago! Instead of ignoring it or trying to prevent information from getting out, Jive, the label who released JT’s last two albums, has decided to embrace this as a marketing opportunity. They issued a statement mere hours after the track list made the rounds:

“Justin Timberlake once again is out to show that he is on the cutting edge with his hotly anticipated new album, currently untitled, which is due out next spring. Aston Kutcher. Michelle Pfeiffer.Two of my most favourite actors in Hollywood put together in a supposedly romantic drama directed by David Hollander. I wonder why the last two movies of Miss Pfeiffer paired her with much younger stars (Michelle had the same role in her latest flick:"I could Never Be Your Woman). Could this be an effort to to compensate for her aging looks so that hey had to make the movie more interesting in terms of frames??.

I had big expectations when I saw the cover of he DVD..I thought it was one of the light-romantic dramas that these two, drop-dead gorgeous stars usually starred in. But as the movie continues, I got more and more bored and wished for the movie to end soon..The movie was so bland, the atmosphere so gloomy..Even the soundtrack sucks!!To make it worse, there's no happy ending to this sad movie (Andrew Wakefield, Aston's character got killed in the hand of Linda's (Michelle Pfeiffer) retarded brother!!..The performance of the ever-gloomy Kathy Bates surely didn't do much to the "commercialism" of the movie.. No wonder it went straight to the DVD store!!

I am starting to wonder whether the popularity of these two, once-major, class A- movie stars has taken a deep plunge in Hollywood. Why in the world did they even bother to accept these roles??

According some sources, the project would be based on Rick Moody’s story “Mansion on the Hill,” which is part of his collection “Demonology.”

“The Mansion on the Hill” follows the adventures of narrator Andrew Wakefield as he tries to come to terms with his sister’s death - she was killed in a car accident just before her wedding. Coincidentally finding himself employed at a ritzy wedding-planning business, Andrew alternates memories of the past with clunky product-speak descriptions of his job.

But on the plot of the movie offered on the official site of Voltage Films there is a romantic story between the star couple. So I guess it should be a free adaptation of the original relate.

The project was in gestation for at least three years, in 2004, David Hollander said he hoped to film “Effects” in Pittsburgh, but after he said even though it would be cheaper to make the movie locally due to currency fluctuations, the film’s cast and financiers demanded it film on the West Coast, Vancouver. David Hollander, director and screenwriter of the movie, is the writer of the CBS series’ The Guardian.
